Design patent D143,213 issued to Adolph Katz in 1945
This 1940s Retro Modern brooch features a bouquet of three flowers with rose gold-washed sterling silver leaves and stems, all tied with a bow. The flowers have teardrop sapphire glass stone and diamanté baguette petals along with diamanté centers. The ribbon and leaves have diamanté accents. This brooch closes with a roll-over safety clasp. The significant weight and complex construction of this piece are characteristics of Adolph Katz’s designs for Coro’s high-end line, Corocraft.
Multiple layers of jade green glass beads, faux pearls and diamanté cascade in this stunning dangling 1950s brooch by Hattie Carnegie. The setting is rhodium-plated metal with a roll-over safety clasp. Wear this statement piece on a lapel, sash, or purse, or as a pendant. The last photo shows the brooch as the centerpiece on a white gold and diamond chain. (This necklace is not included.) This large brooch is not for the faint-hearted!
A large oval faceted golden topaz glass stone is surrounded by citrine and white-striped diamanté and layers of darker citrine leaves in this 1950s brooch by Hattie Carnegie. It is another three-dimensional example of her quality and ingenuity. The gold-plated metal setting has a roll-over safety clasp.
Rays of emerald rhinestone baguettes emanating from a pavé center are joined by clear rhinestones in this 1950s sunburst brooch by Hattie Carnegie. The setting is rhodium plated with a roll-over safety clasp. The design is classic! In fact, Hattie made a pair of earrings with the same motif a few years later. A bouquet of sterling silver flowers, stems, and leaves are tied in a bow and accented with collet-set pink tourmaline, pale sapphire and peridot glass stones. This brooch, with its roll-over safety clasp, is another example of the fine hand-made 1940s sterling silver pieces Hobé is known for. I particularly love the vertical orientation of this piece.
