Jakob Bengel earrings in red and black Galalith
    Jakob Bengel Machine Age earrings
    USD$295.00

Red & Black Galalith 1930s Jakob Bengel Earrings

These Jakob Bengel earrings feature raised black Galalith triangles with red Galalith slots. The chrome settings envelope the stones. A stack of chrome disks completes the design. I purchased these earrings from a Bengel expert in the UK. They came with their unmarked ear wires with lever backs for pierced ears, so I am unaware of the metal content. If you require sterling silver, a competent jeweler could switch the ear wires. Scroll down to see Jakob Bengel pieces that work beautifully with these earrings.

Red Bead & Chrome Art Deco Pendant Earrings by Jakob Bengel

These Art Deco pendant earrings feature deep-red (almost burgundy) glass beads with chrome caps suspended from lines of twisted-chrome. This pair was made by Jakob Bengel in a Machine Age design. When I bought the earrings from a Bengel expert in the UK, they came with ear wires with lever backs for pierced ears. I do not know their metal content. Ruby & Sterling Art Deco Bangle

Here is another classic Art Deco line bracelet in the form of a bangle:  square-cut deep ruby-glass stones channel-set in sterling silver with engraved edges and a safety chain. This rare bangle has great color and is wider than many. (Note: Red glass stones of this period are more rare than other colors because gold was used to make red.) I have several other ruby Art Deco pieces that coordinate well with this bangle — scroll down to see a selection.

Ruby & Sterling Flower Brooch by Hess-Appel

This brooch is a wonderful statement piece that’s just right for today’s style. This piece by Hess-Appel is signed with their Jollé trademark (without the accent, which was used only in their advertisements). This tall jewel closes with a roll-over safety clasp. Vintage multi strand necklace with ruby chicklets
Front of 3-strand ruby chicklet necklace
    USD$245.00

    Ruby Chicklet 3-Strand Necklace

This vintage multi strand necklace is a variation of the chicklet-style so popular in the 1920s-1930s. Three rows of faceted, ruby-glass chicklets drape in the front, with two larger faceted ruby-glass triangles joining the three rows to the rest of the piece. The chicklets are open-back; the triangles are not. This unusual version of the classic chicklet in hard-to-find red closes with a spring-ring clasp. This necklace is probably Czech in origin. Ruby, Diamanté & Sterling Bar Brooch

This red glass brooch is an Art Deco bar pin. It has large, faceted, square-cut ruby stones divided by pairs of round diamanté. This well-made, sterling silver piece is finished with engraved edges and an older-style clasp. The 935 mark, which refers to a higher silver content than the American sterling standard of 925 parts per 1000, makes me think this lovely piece is European in origin.
