  • Glass choker necklace with pearls
    Glass plaques alternating with pearls
    USD$245.00

    Glass Plaque & Pearl Choker

    , ,
This glass choker necklace is a delicate 1920s Art Deco design. It has trapezoid-shaped plaques of glass molded in a step-pattern and set in rhodium-plated frames. They alternate with barrel-shaped, cream-colored faux pearls. This elegant jewel, which closes with a barrel clasp, goes with just about everything! This choker was made for a slim neck, but the clasp can be replaced with a spring-ring style and chain extender. Upon close inspection with a loupe, I see minor blemishes on two pearls that do not diminish the beauty of this piece.

    Silver-tone & golden topaz 1920s screw-back earrings
    USD$295.00

Golden Topaz & Silver 1920s Pendant Earrings

    , ,
These 1920s drop earrings are fun and unusual but hard to describe. The pendant is a ball composed of a faceted, golden-topaz-glass disk sandwiched between two shiny, silver-tone domes. A golden-topaz glass stone sits at the ear lobe, and a small bead is at the center of the paper-clip chain. These all-original, long earrings have screw-backs, which can be modified for pierced ears. Wear them with off-duty and business-casual attire. Scroll down to see a bracelet and necklace to wear with these jewels.

This Art Deco bar pin is made in the same way as the imitation-gemstone bangle bracelets of the era. The faceted, square-cut golden-topaz (or citrine) glass stones are channel-set in sterling silver with engraved edges. This piece, which closes with a roll-over safety clasp, never goes out of style! • Vintage topaz earrings in vermeil sterling
    'Dancing flower' earrings w/golden topaz
    USD$245.00

Golden Topaz & Vermeil Sterling Flower Earrings

    , ,
These vintage topaz earrings look like dancing flowers. Curled sterling silver petals have faceted oval glass stone centers. The metal has a hint of a warm gold plating, which was popular in the 1940s. These graceful Retro Modern jewels are so beautiful and well-made that I’m surprised they are unsigned. These elegant screw-back earrings are timeless and great for both day and evening wear. Note that any color variations in metal are only camera reflections.

  • Vintage Bakelite brooch with diamantes
    Close-up view of brooch front
    USD$195.00

    Green Bakelite Brooch with Diamantés

    , ,
This vintage Bakelite brooch is fashioned from a half-dome in light green. When jewelry makers embraced early plastics they no longer needed to imitate gemstones, so the range of colors was limitless. This 1930s piece is embellished with five rings of diamantés. This versatile Art Deco jewel is fun to wear and probably European in origin. It may be Galalith, an alternative plastic often used there. Although the pin is bent, it works very well. I love the mix of materials and the choice of green!

  • Green bead necklace w/chrome accents
Green bead & chrome Machine Age necklace
    USD$275.00

    Green Bead & Chrome Necklace

    , ,
This green bead necklace from the 1930s is probably European in origin. A large, faceted glass bead capped with textured metal shaped like flower petals is the centerpiece. Textured chrome balls along with green-glass beads (two flower-shaped with caps, two round ones without) continue up the textured chain to the spring-ring clasp. This playful jewel has a Machine Age-feel. An unusual and delightful piece for a woman who likes to wear warm colors in any season. Scroll down to see a coordinating bracelet.

    Jade & Diamanté Pendant Earrings

    , ,
These lovely and delicate Art Deco jade earrings feature molded-glass stones that simulate carved jade. The square stones are set at an angle in silver-tone metal embellished with diamantés. Minor wear to some corners is not visible when these earrings are worn. The original screw-backs were converted to sterling silver ear wires with lever backs for pierced ears by my expert jeweler. Jade Bead Art Deco Chandelier Earrings

    , ,
These Art Deco chandelier earrings feature a circle of mottled, pale jade-glass beads suspended from a triangle of silver-tone chain dotted with additional beads. A single bead pendant hangs within each circle, and a matching larger disk is set where it will adorn the earlobe. Lavishly-long (3-inch), this pair is possibly Czech in origin. These all-original screw-back earrings can be modified for pierced ears. Lots of movement; fun to wear!

  • Art Deco-style earrings with lapis and diamante
Front of lapis & diamante pendant earrings
    USD$295.00

    Lapis & Diamanté Dangling Earrings

    ,
These Art Deco-style earrings are a bit of a mystery. Based on what I’ve seen in Ginger Moro’s book (European Designer Jewelry, p. 49), I’m guessing that this pair was made in Europe in the 1980s from vintage materials. Each rounded-triangular-shaped lapis-glass drop is embellished with diamante and a rectangular onyx-glass stone. The ear wires with lever-backs are original to the earrings and unmarked. Regardless of their date of manufacture, these earrings from my personal collection are distinctive and beautiful. Scroll down to see the same design in camphor glass.

    Lapis & Silver Pyramid Necklace

    , ,
This lapis and silver pyramid necklace has molded sugar-loaf glass stones set in silver-tone frames alternating with silver-tone triangular plaques. This motif illustrates the world's fascination with all things Egyptian in the 1920s. This necklace, which closes with a spring-ring clasp, was in my personal collection.

  • Lapis drop earrings from Czechoslovakia
    1930s lapis bead earrings

    Lapis Bead Czech Drop Earrings

    , ,
These lapis drop earrings have a pair of glass beads, each capped with flower-petal-shaped metal. The lower bead is 1/2-inch in diameter. The size and color make these pendants a bit bolder in effect than Art Deco pieces from the 1920s. The original screw-backs were replaced with sterling silver posts for pierced ears by my expert jeweler. Scroll down to see a selection of Art Deco jewels to wear with these earrings. USD$295.00

    Lapis Panel 1930s Pendant Earrings

    , ,
These lapis blue earrings are formed from molded-glass panels that look like carved gemstones. The flower motif in the blue-glass pendants is present in the silver-tone metal components that connect the pendant to the earring top. These all-original, unusual earrings have screw-backs, but they can be modified for pierced ears. Because these Art Deco earrings are 2″ long and bold (the glass panels are 3/4-inch squares), I would wear these drops with only an Art Deco bracelet – scroll down to see a selection. The focal point is formed with black-glass beads that are thicker, faceted and graduated in size. • Art Deco bar brooch with onyx & crystal
    Close-up view of stones & cut-outs
    USD$295.00

Onyx & Crystal Art Deco Bar Brooch

    , ,
This Art Deco bar brooch is formed from faceted, rectangular onyx-glass and crystal stones. Each end has a faceted, onyx-glass triangle. The silver-tone metal setting has cut-outs, creating a checkered pattern with the stones. They are all open-back, and the workmanship is superb. The trombone clasp and unusual design tell me this brooch is European in origin. I think the setting is sterling silver, but the mark is unreadable. Onyx, Diamanté & Filigree Art Deco Swag Necklace

    , ,
This Art Deco swag necklace features an octagon-shaped onyx-glass stone in the center of the lower strand. On either side is a faceted, diamond-shaped diamanté, with a third in the center of the upper strand. Decorative filigree links in two patterns separate the stones. Even the surface of the chain links is textured. This delicate, chromium-plated necklace from the 1920s closes with a press-back filigree clasp. Even though one diamanté is slightly yellowed (much less so than the photos suggest), these stones have retained lots of sparkle.
