Onyx, Emerald & Diamanté Dangling Earrings

    , ,
Onyx-glass hoops attached to emerald-green-enamel and diamanté-embellished panels of silver-tone metal form these lovely and versatile earrings. Additional diamanté adorn the earlobe. The ear wires for pierced ears are original, but the lever backs are unmarked. These earrings are probably European in origin. Though Art Deco in style, something about this pair makes me think they may be from a later Revival era. Nevertheless, they are beautiful! Onyx, Marcasite & Sterling German Bracelet

    , ,
This 1930s marcasite and onyx bracelet from Germany features faceted, rectangular stones alternating with embellished sterling links. I have always found many German Art Deco pieces especially appealing because of their high-quality design and construction. Bracelets like this one are extremely versatile for both day and evening wear. This piece was one of the first German Art Deco jewels that joined my personal collection decades ago. I was thrilled when it was chosen to walk the runway at Toronto Fashion Week for Spring 2019. Scroll down to see the 1950s ear clips the designer (unexpectedly, but brilliantly!) selected for the model to wear with this jewel. You'll also see two pairs of complementary Art Deco pendant earrings.

These vintage onyx earrings are long and elegant. They each feature a collet-set, square onyx glass stone with an oval black Bakelite hoop, connected with sterling silver embellished with marcasite. The original screw-backs were replaced with 14kt gold studs for pierced ears by my expert jeweler. A gorgeous Art Deco design from the 1920s, when long earrings reigned supreme and movement in clothing and jewels was key. These earrings were part of my personal collection and are guaranteed to get you noticed! Scroll down to see a selection of perfect bracelets to wear with these jewels.

    Pearl & Silver-Mesh Chain 1920s Necklace

    , ,
This pearl and silver chain necklace from the 1920s is dainty. A large irregular faux pearl (which looks like mother-of-pearl coating) capped on both ends with filigree forms the centerpiece. Silver-mesh chain accented with two round faux pearls on each side complete the piece. The mesh between one side pearl and the clasp has very minor fraying. The photos of the center make the filigree caps appear much warmer than they actually are. This necklace, which closes with a spring-ring clasp, was made for a slim neck. Please note the necklace length (14 3/4″) and check your neck size before purchasing this lovely piece. The construction does allow for a chain extender.

    Peridot & Diamanté Pendant Earrings

    , ,
These vintage teardrop earrings each have a faceted, peridot-glass stone with a decorative silver-tone metal cap. It drops from diamanté-embellished links. The yellow-metal shepherd hooks on these delicate and elegant 1920s pendants make me think they are European in origin. Most of the diamanté are cloudy, but they do not detract from the appearance of these beauties – the star attraction is each pale-green-glass drop. The perfect adornment for a woman who loves Art Deco and looks best in warm colors!

This 1920s brooch has red and white glass beads set in a circle and topped with molded-glass flowers in the same colors. The components are wired together and sewn onto two layers of filigree. Red Bakelite Brooch with Chrome

    , ,
This red Bakelite brooch is crafted from a cylinder of red plastic (Bakelite or Galalith?) wrapped in chrome. This Machine Age design reminds me of the work of the German maker Jakob Bengel. Early plastics were often combined with other materials during the 1930s. This piece closes with a simple C-clasp. Scroll down to see the perfect Machine Age earrings, which are by Bengel, to wear with this fashionable and fun brooch.

    Red Bead 1920s Chandelier Earrings

These deliciously-long (3 1/4") and fun 1920s chandelier earrings have three chains adorned with red-glass beads. The red glass stone set at the earlobe and all but the bottom row of beads are faceted; the bottom ones are round balls. These all-original earrings have screw-backs which can be modified for pierced ears. Some of the beads have minor flaws, but none is visible when this pair is worn. Lots of movement here!

    Red Glass Double-Hoop Czech Earrings

    , ,
These Art Deco Czech earrings are fun! They have two red-glass hoops dangling from long brass filigree findings. This type of filigree was used extensively by Czech makers during the 1920s. These unusually long (3″), all-original earrings have screw-backs and lots of movement. These earrings can be modified for pierced ears. Ruby 1920s Pendant Necklace with Chicklets

    , ,
This delicate 1920s pendant necklace is another variation of the chicklet-style so popular in the Art Deco era. This piece has a beautifully-faceted, rectangular ruby-glass stone suspended from a smaller, oblong-shaped stone along with three chicklets on each side of the chain closest to the center drop. The metal is silver-tone and unmarked. This necklace closes with a spring-ring clasp. I don’t usually like pendants, but this one is special! It’s perfect for a v-neckline.

Ruby Bead & Rondelle French Pinwheel Brooch

    , ,
This pinwheel brooch has ruby-glass beads wired in a spiral and adorned with channels of diamanté. A large ruby-glass bead sits on top. Frank Hess designed a nearly identical dress clip for Miriam Haskell circa 1940, but his had diamanté only on the front. This brooch has them on both sides and closes with a trombone clasp on a filigree back. Real or faux diamond ear studs are the perfect accompaniment for this charming French jewel.

Ruby Bead, Emerald Leaf & Brass Dangling Bracelet

    , ,
Ruby- and emerald-glass beads are intertwined with green-pressed-glass leaves in this charming Art Deco dangling bracelet. This piece makes me think of the bunches of grapes motif so popular at this time. The beads, including three extended clusters, and leaves are suspended from a brass link chain. It closes with an old-style spring-ring clasp. This 1920s bracelet is probably European in origin. A fun piece!

    Ruby Chicklet 3-Strand Necklace

    , ,
This vintage multi strand necklace is a variation of the chicklet-style so popular in the 1920s-1930s. Three rows of faceted, ruby-glass chicklets drape in the front, with two larger faceted ruby-glass triangles joining the three rows to the rest of the piece. The chicklets are open-back; the triangles are not. This unusual version of the classic chicklet in hard-to-find red closes with a spring-ring clasp. This necklace is probably Czech in origin. Ruby, Diamanté & Sterling 1920s Bar Brooch

    , ,
This Art Deco bar brooch has large, faceted, square-cut ruby-glass stones divided by pairs of round diamanté. This well-made, sterling silver piece is finished with engraved edges and an older-style clasp. The 935 mark, which refers to a higher silver content than the American sterling standard of 925 parts per 1000, makes me think this lovely piece is European in origin. Bar brooches never go out of style, and this one is exceptional! The deep-red stones are perfect for a woman who looks best in cool colors. Just add your own real or faux diamond stud earrings to complete the look.

On top are layers of ruby- and emerald-blown-glass beads and additional pear-shaped stones. The components are wired onto a silver-tone filigree back with a trombone clasp. Probably made in France in the late-1950s to early-1960s, this substantial piece is nearly one-inch high! Two stones have darkened a bit, but they are much brighter than the photos indicate. This jewel still has plenty of sparkle!
