Vintage Bracelets

Vintage bracelets from the Art Deco style of the 1920s-30s, Retro Modern pieces of the 1940s, and 1950s designs by imaginative makers in beautiful materials can be found here. An important accessory to 1920s fashion, when bare arms required adornment, bracelets in this decade were typically worn in multiples. The popular styles were one- , two- , and three-row flexible bracelets (what we now call line or tennis bracelets), filigree bracelets, and bangles. Bracelets got wider and more three-dimensional in the 1930s, as the Machine Age style took hold. In the 1940s, gold-tone snake chains, basket-weave links, and flexible spirals were popular styles. The 1950s produced tailored pieces as well as fabulous fakes. For more bracelets, see Sets & Parures.

Sterling Floral Link 1940s Bracelet by Alice Caviness

    , ,
This sterling silver link bracelet by Alice Caviness features panels of tiny flowers and leaves. It closes with the old-style spring-ring clasp. This maker's pieces are hard to date – I’m guessing this one is from the 1940s, when romanticism was a popular jewelry motif. This delicate bracelet can go anywhere. It’s perfect for women who look best in cool colors.

Sterling Floral Link 1940s Bracelet by Felch

    , ,
This 1940s bracelet by Felch features four sterling silver plaques decorated with flowers and leaves. Their textured surfaces are raised from the back (a technique called repoussé). This timeless piece goes with just about everything. According to the Researching Costume Jewelry website, Victor Primavera, who patented this design, was the designer for Felch & Co. when this bracelet was made. This piece has no maker's mark.

These Coro earrings and bracelet feature large sterling silver flowers. The bracelet has a small flower on each connecting link. The earrings have screw backs. You can easily remove the age-appropriate patina, if you wish. This set was designed in 1942 by Massa Raimond for the company’s high-end line. Tortoise Shell Bracelet with Bakelite Crescents

    , ,
This tortoise shell bracelet has three staggered rows of Bakelite(?) interlinked crescents. The pattern is a variation of the tank-track motif that was popular in the 1930s. The hook clasp disappears when the piece is closed. This classic Machine Age bracelet, which was part of my personal collection, is fun and versatile! If warm colors are your palette, this jewel is for you.

Turquoise Glass Bead & Diamanté 1950s Bracelet

    , ,
This vintage glass bead bracelet was made in one of the most popular colors of the 1950s: turquoise. It features molded-glass leaves interspersed with diamanté and woven onto a gold-tone mesh cuff. This bold, three-dimensional piece is not for the faint-hearted! Because it has a hinge but no clasp, this bracelet can accommodate a variety of wrist sizes. This is a rare instance where I have two of the same jewels, and they are shown together in the last photo. However, the bracelets are priced separately, so you may choose to buy only one.
