About Vintage Earrings

Vintage earrings are one of my favorite types of jewelry, and here you’ll find a vast selection from the 1920s-1950s. From Art Deco dangling styles to bead- and stone-cluster ear clips, this collection features a wide range of colors, materials, and silhouettes. Pieces like chandeliers by Hattie Carnegie or pearl clusters by Louis Rousselet will draw every eye up to your face, adding that little extra sparkle to any look. It’s no wonder earrings are many women’s go-to accessory. Whether adding color or shine to a simple everyday look or bringing that stunning cocktail dress to the next level, the perfect pair of vintage earrings will help to make you and your outfit memorable.

Sapphire Bead & Rondelle Pendant Earrings

These sapphire blue drop earrings are classy and long. Each has a blue rondelle (I had never seen a colored one before!) sandwiched between a pair of faceted, sapphire-glass beads. They are capped at each end with decorated silver-tone metal, and the pendants are suspended from silver-tone chain. A small diamanté is designed to adorn each earlobe. These all-original screw-back earrings can be modified for pierced ears. The backs of the screws are marked sterling, but I don’t know if the rest of the silver findings are as well. These lovely earrings can be worn anywhere, anytime and are perfect for those who like cool colors. Sapphire Poured Glass Earrings by Hattie Carnegie

    , ,
These blue sapphire costume earrings feature translucent poured glass in a delicately-detailed gold-tone setting. The design is timeless and versatile! These 1950s ear clips were one of the Hattie Carnegie creations chosen by the designer to walk the runway at Toronto Fashion Week for Spring 2019. He paired them with an Art Deco necklace in a similar blue worn by a model in a black-and-white houndstooth evening gown. I confess that I was both surprised and delighted with this choice, and the audience was definitely pleased. Although that necklace is no longer available, scroll down to see a similar piece.

Sapphire, Onyx & Citrine Bead 1950s Earrings

    , ,
These 1950s earrings feature a cluster of sapphire-, onyx-, and yellow-green-glass beads. A prong-set, faceted citrine-glass stone surrounded by tiny onyx beads complete the design. Except for the black beads, all are coated with Aurora Borealis, which adds iridescence. This vibrant and unique late-1950s color combination is set in gold-tone metal. These colorful ear clips by Hattie Carnegie are a versatile addition to any jewelry wardrobe. They remind me of costumes in the early episodes of Mad Men.

  • Vintage turquoise glass earrings w/sapphire accents
Turquoise & sapphire ear clips by Alice Caviness
    USD$195.00

Turquoise & Sapphire Earrings by Alice Caviness

    , ,
These vintage turquoise glass earrings are an imaginative 1950s design by Alice Caviness. An unusual textured turquoise stone shaped like a thick button with some sparkle is the centerpiece. Glass beads in sapphire blue (coated with aurora borealis) and turquoise set in gold-tone filigree surround half of the turquoise center. The components are mounted (wired?) onto a filigree back that holds the ear clip. The earrings face each other, so they beautifully frame the face when worn. This pair showcases this designer’s clever mix of colors and materials.

These turquoise bead earrings are fashioned from molded-glass leaves and diamantés hand-woven onto a brass-colored filigree disk. This bold hue was the height of fashion in the 1950s. Still a lovely color for warmer months, it also adds cheerfulness to the dark days of winter. These ear clips have a matching necklace and bracelet – scroll down to see them.
