Vintage Earrings

Vintage earrings are one of my favorite types of jewelry, and here you’ll find a vast selection from the 1920s-1950s. From Art Deco dangling styles to bead- and stone-cluster ear clips, this collection features a wide range of colors, materials, and silhouettes. Pieces like chandeliers by Hattie Carnegie or pearl clusters by Louis Rousselet will draw every eye up to your face, adding that little extra sparkle to any look. It’s no wonder earrings are many women’s go-to accessory. Whether adding color or shine to a simple everyday look or bringing that stunning cocktail dress to the next level, the perfect pair of vintage earrings will help to make you and your outfit memorable.

Onyx, Emerald & Diamanté Dangling Earrings

    , ,
Onyx-glass hoops attached to emerald-green-enamel and diamanté-embellished panels of silver-tone metal form these lovely and versatile earrings. Additional diamanté adorn the earlobe. The ear wires for pierced ears are original, but the lever backs are unmarked. These earrings are probably European in origin. Though Art Deco in style, something about this pair makes me think they may be from a later Revival era. Nevertheless, they are beautiful! Onyx, Marcasite & Sterling Earrings by Wachenheimer Bros.

    , ,
These onyx, marcasite and sterling silver Art Deco pendant earrings are part of a line the maker called Wachenheimer Real Stone Jewelry. They feature a faceted, onyx (or glass?) stone set with a top border of marcasites and suspended from a marcasite-encrusted slim sterling bar. A square-cut, prong-set onyx stone sits at the earlobe. These all-original screw-back earrings can be modified for pierced ears. By the late 1920s, the company had moved away from their Diamonbar sterling silver flexible bracelets and bangles to this line, but the maker's high-quality is still present in these lovely earrings. Scroll down to see a selection of onyx Art Deco pieces to wear with this versatile pair.

Onyx, Marcasite & Sterling Pendant Earrings

    , ,
These vintage onyx earrings are long and elegant. They each feature a collet-set, square onyx glass stone with an oval black Bakelite hoop, connected with sterling silver embellished with marcasite. The original screw-backs were replaced with 14kt gold studs for pierced ears by my expert jeweler. A gorgeous Art Deco design from the 1920s, when long earrings reigned supreme and movement in clothing and jewels was key. These earrings were part of my personal collection and are guaranteed to get you noticed! Scroll down to see a selection of perfect bracelets to wear with these jewels.

Pastel Art Glass French 1950s Dangling Earrings

    , ,
These dangling art glass earrings feature pale pink, green and blue beads that dangle on chains suspended from a pink glass button. The pastel-colored beads in different shapes and sizes have white striations. These 1950s ear clips are lovely and versatile, and have lots of movement. Though unsigned, this pair resembles pieces made by Louis Rousselet, especially with the glass button at the earlobe and the high-quality of the beads. I am not certain, however, because of the style of the ear clip.

Pearl & Blown Glass Bead 1950s Pendant Earrings by Louis Rousselet

    , ,
These blown glass ear clips have clusters of beads in greens, purples, and reds, along with pearls. This pair was made by Louis Rousselet, according to Ginger Moro (the author of European Designer Jewelry and a Rousselet expert). Though marked "Charlin" on the ear clips, these pendants are "a re-issue of an earlier design from the '50s using vintage glass beads and pearls", stated Moro in correspondence, when I bought these earrings from her. The colors and design make this pair very versatile and easy to wear for day or evening.

Pearl & Blown Glass Flower French 1950s Earrings

    , ,
Clusters of tiny faux pearls with blown-glass flowers and leaves form these 1950s ear clips. The design and style of the beads remind me of the work of the French maker Louis Rousselet, although the earring backs are not the same as those he typically used. However, the findings I'm familiar with would have been too small for this creation. Please note that although these earrings are not mirror images, the lack of symmetry – which is not unusual in hand-strung pieces – does not detract from their lovely appearance. What a great choice for a bride!

Pearl Basket French 1950s Dangle Earrings

    , ,
A basket of glass pearls suspended from a large, single pearl dangle in these lovely 1950s French ear clips. Each pendant is held in place by a cluster of glass pearls mounted on a round, white-metal filigree back. This part is designed to adorn the earlobe. These charming earrings, though unsigned, have the traditional French filigree back and ear clip used by Louis Rousselet. (His pieces were typically signed with only a paper hang tag.) These earrings are as perfect for a wedding, prom, or special occasion as they are for everyday wear. Add a single strand of pearls and look extraordinary!

Pearl Cluster French 1950s Dangle Earrings

    , ,
These 1950s pearl cluster earrings resemble a bunch of grapes. They are suspended from a large glass-pearl button mounted on a white-metal filigree back. Though unsigned, these ear clips have the traditional filigree back, ear-clip mechanism, and button-bead at the earlobe typically used by Louis Rousselet. Moreover, the unusual shape of the pearls could only have been made by someone of his caliber. (Note that Rousselet pieces were typically signed only with a paper hang tag.) These beautiful earrings are right for day, evening or bridal/ wedding/prom wear. Scroll down to see a gorgeous brooch with similar pearls and emerald blown-glass.

Pearl, Gemstone Bead & Rondelle 1950s Earrings by Louis Rousselet

    , ,
These 1950s French ear clips by Louis Rousselet feature faux pearls in various sizes, with accents of ruby, sapphire, emerald and amethyst blown glass leaves and rondelles. Though unsigned, these earrings match a signed necklace and earrings set that I have moved from my personal collection to offer for sale. The type of ear clip used is another clue to the creator, who usually signed his pieces with only paper hang tags. Louis Rousselet was the premier faux pearl and bead maker in the first half of the 20th century. These earrings are a beautiful example of his work. Although the coating on some pearls appears to have bubbles, I think they are intended. Scroll down to see the magnificent necklace and earrings set in the same design.

    Peridot & Diamanté Pendant Earrings

    , ,
These vintage teardrop earrings each have a faceted, peridot-glass stone with a decorative silver-tone metal cap. It drops from diamanté-embellished links. The yellow-metal shepherd hooks on these delicate and elegant 1920s pendants make me think they are European in origin. Most of the diamanté are cloudy, but they do not detract from the appearance of these beauties – the star attraction is each pale-green-glass drop. The perfect adornment for a woman who loves Art Deco and looks best in warm colors!

    , ,
These Jakob Bengel earrings feature raised black Galalith triangles with red Galalith slots. The chrome settings envelope the stones. A stack of chrome disks completes the design. I purchased these earrings from a Bengel expert in the UK. They came with their unmarked ear wires with lever backs for pierced ears, so I am unaware of the metal content.
