Vintage Earrings

Vintage earrings are one of my favorite types of jewelry, and here you’ll find a vast selection from the 1920s-1950s. From Art Deco dangling styles to bead- and stone-cluster ear clips, this collection features a wide range of colors, materials, and silhouettes. Pieces like chandeliers by Hattie Carnegie or pearl clusters by Louis Rousselet will draw every eye up to your face, adding that little extra sparkle to any look. It’s no wonder earrings are many women’s go-to accessory. Whether adding color or shine to a simple everyday look or bringing that stunning cocktail dress to the next level, the perfect pair of vintage earrings will help to make you and your outfit memorable.

    Sapphire Art Glass Czech Earrings

    , ,
These Czech glass earrings feature sapphire-blue oval pendants. Both sides of the translucent molded-glass drops have a diagonal design. When viewed from the front, the pattern appears more complex – somewhat like a honeycomb. The top of each pendant has a diamanté set in decorated white metal. The original screw-backs were replaced with sterling silver wires with lever backs for pierced ears by my expert jeweler. These earrings are truly lovely, timeless, and versatile. You won’t be disappointed!

Sapphire Bead & Rondelle Pendant Earrings

    , ,
These classy and long Art Deco pendant earrings feature a blue rondelle (I had never seen a colored one before!) sandwiched between a pair of faceted, sapphire-blue-glass beads. They are capped at each end with decorated silver-tone metal and suspended from silver-tone chain. A small diamanté is designed to adorn each earlobe. These all-original screw-back earrings can be modified for pierced ears. The backs of the screws are marked sterling, but I don't know if the rest of the silver findings are as well. These lovely earrings can be worn anywhere, anytime. Scroll down to see some sapphire earrings already converted for pierced ears as well as lovely coordinating bracelets.

Sapphire Poured Glass Earrings by Hattie Carnegie

    , ,
These blue sapphire costume earrings feature translucent poured glass in a delicately-detailed gold-tone setting. The design is timeless and versatile! These 1950s ear clips were one of the Hattie Carnegie creations chosen by the designer to walk the runway at Toronto Fashion Week for Spring 2019. He paired them with an Art Deco necklace in a similar blue worn by a model in a black-and-white houndstooth evening gown. I confess that I was both surprised and delighted with this choice, and the audience was definitely pleased. Although that necklace is no longer available, scroll down to see a similar piece.

Sapphire, Onyx & Citrine Bead 1950s Earrings by Hattie Carnegie

    , ,
A cluster of sapphire, onyx, and chartreuse glass beads form these ear clips by Hattie Carnegie. A prong-set, faceted citrine glass stone surrounded by tiny onyx beads complete the design. Except for the black beads, all are coated with aurora borealis, which adds iridescence. This vibrant and unique late-1950s color combination is set in gold-tone metal. These colorful earrings are a versatile addition to any jewelry wardrobe. They remind me of colors worn in the early episodes of Mad Men.

Turquoise & Sapphire 1950s Earrings by Alice Caviness

    , ,
An unusual textured turquoise glass stone is the centerpiece of these 1950s earrings by Alice Caviness. It is shaped like a thick button and has some sparkle in it. Aurora borealis sapphire glass stones and turquoise glass beads set in gold-tone filigree surround half of the turquoise center. These beads are mounted (wired?) onto a filigree back that holds the ear clip. The earrings face each other, so they beautifully frame the face when worn. This pair showcase this designer's clever mix of colors and materials.

    Turquoise Drop French 1950s Earrings

    , ,
These vintage turquoise glass earrings may have been made by Louis Rousselet in the 1950s. They feature a large turquoise art-glass nugget hanging from a matching button-shaped stone designed to adorn the earlobe. The filigree earring backs have the traditional French clips of the era – actually, they and the glass buttons are the same elements as those used by Rousselet. The art glass is stunning, and the color is gorgeous!
