Baroque Pearl & Amethyst Bead 1970s Long Necklace by Miriam Haskell

The long strand of faux cream baroque pearls and pearl bead spacers is interspersed with faceted amethyst glass beads. The pearls are textured and somewhat varying in size. Black Bakelite & Diamanté German Choker
1930s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThis vintage Bakelite necklace is probably from Germany. It has curved links of black Bakelite alternating with slightly larger curved links of channel-set diamanté. The components are threaded on a chain with metal spacers between each link. When laid out on a table, the necklace retains a slightly curved shape. The back of one of the Bakelite links has a small chip (shown in the last photo), but the appearance and integrity of the piece have not been compromised. This necklace was made for a slim neck, so please note the length (14 3/4") and check your neck size before purchasing this piece. The look of this necklace is Machine Age and very classy. Black Bakelite & Diamanté Machine Age Necklace by Schreiber & Hiller
1930s Jewelry, Schreiber & Hiller Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesI love the design of this Machine Age necklace! Six curved links set with diamanté alternate with black Bakelite links with roof-shaped (pointed) tops. Because the jeweled links are curved, the centerpiece follows the curve of your neck instead of laying out in a straight line. A scroll chain with a spring-ring-clasp completes this elegant and easy-to-wear necklace that I always enjoyed. 1920s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThis vintage glass bead necklace has clusters of blown-glass beads in shades of blue wound together with wire and linked with clear glass rings. Chrome & Glass Link Necklace & Bracelet
1930s Jewelry, Costume Jewelry Sets / Parures, Jakob Bengel Jewelry, Vintage Bracelets, Vintage NecklacesThis vintage necklace and bracelet set with chrome and molded glass links is so unusual that its origins have been debated by the expert in European costume jewelry – Ginger Moro. Her book European Designer Jewelry describes the pieces as Belgian (where the Art Deco style was “a synthesis of French and German styles”). When I purchased the set, she told me that she had bought it in Brussels about 40 years ago from a dealer who also had sold her some Bengel jewelry. At that time, before the first Bengel book was published, no one knew about the firm. Since then, Moro and the dealer have decided that this set had to be by Bengel for three reasons: “nobody else was doing any chrome jewelry that sophisticated”; the dealer had bought it from the same source as other Bengel pieces; and they discovered that Bengel was working with glass links. I don’t think the maker matters. This Machine Age look is unusual and striking! The color of the glass segments, which are pale peach in reality, is very difficult to capture in photographs. The necklace closes with a hook; the bracelet has a spring-ring clasp. This necklace was made for a slim neck, so please note the necklace length (14 3/4") and check your neck size before purchasing this set.$ 995$ 995 -

Chrysoprase & Crystal Chicklet Necklace
1930s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThis chrysoprase green necklace has rectangular-shaped stones that alternate with square crystals. Chrysoprase, Onyx, & Ruby Disk Choker with Rondelles
1920s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThis statement choker necklace features faceted, opaque chrysoprase-, onyx- and ruby-glass disks and rondelles. The components are strung on metal chain. The necklace closes with a screw-in clasp formed by two of the disks. Based on the construction of this piece, I think it is European in origin. As often happens with necklaces made like this one, the chain has stretched. I don’t recommend having a jeweler cut the excess – just keep it at the back. This multi-colored, versatile necklace can be worn with many Art Deco jewels, depending on the color you wish to emphasize — scroll down to see a selection. Or wear your real or faux diamond studs to complete the look.$ 225$ 225 -
Citrine & Crystal 1920s Tiered Necklace
1920s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThe design and construction of this tiered necklace, a variation on the 1920s chicklet-style, is first class. Golden yellow, square-cut glass stones alternate with oblong crystals to form the necklace and tiered centerpiece. Round dangling citrine-glass stones add the movement that was so essential in the Art Deco era. All of the stones are faceted and mounted in decorated, silver-tone metal. The construction makes me think this piece was made in Europe. This divine jewel, which I initially purchased for myself, closes with a spring-ring clasp. Diamanté & Gold Snake Chain 1950s Coro Necklace
1950s Jewelry, Coro Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThis Coro necklace features gold-plated fretwork embellished with rows of gold-ended baguettes as its centerpiece, which reminds me of a cornucopia. A pear-shaped diamanté adorns the tail of the hook-and-tail closure of the snake chain. This piece is another great example of the work Adolph Katz produced for Coro’s high-end line. What’s interesting is that this piece appears in an October 1, 1953 Vogue ad with the following copy: “excitingly beautiful as Paris by night … Vendome by Coro“. (Vendome later became another one of the company’s high-end lines.) Also of interest is the difference of the clasp on the necklace versus that shown on the design patent.$ 195$ 195 -
Diamanté German Snake Chain Necklace
1930s Jewelry, Unknown (Maker's Mark is Unknown), Vintage NecklacesThis snake chain necklace from Germany has a curved centerpiece with a Machine Age-look. The white-metal links with channel-set stones are separated by trios of flat-metal links. All are connected with flat disks at the top and bottom (probably to cover a connecting chain). At each end is a triangle-shaped element formed by two long and one short link with channel-set stones. This piece closes with a spring-ring clasp. Although I had always associated snake chains with the 1940s, I just learned that they were first introduced in 1850. This necklace has a maker’s mark, but I have been unable to identify the company. Although this necklace was made for a slim neck (the length is 14 1/2"), you could add a chain extender if needed. The absence of an adjustable closure makes me think this piece was made before the 1950s. Scroll down to see a bracelet by the same maker.$ 245$ 245 -
Diamanté Tank Track German Necklace by Schreiber & Hiller
1930s Jewelry, Schreiber & Hiller Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThis German necklace has three rows of flat-top links of diamanté. The edges of the links are engraved, and the clasp is the concealed type. The ageing of some stones doesn't detract from the sparkle of this Machine Age piece. Schreiber & Hiller produced jewelry with many variations of this pattern. This particular design is the same as that of the sapphire and diamanté bracelet in this group. Scroll down to see it as well as two all-diamanté bracelets in a four-row, tank-track pattern, by the same maker.$ 195$ 195 -
Diamanté Vintage Bib Necklace
1950s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThis vintage bib necklace has a 3 ½”-wide centerpiece of tapered, curved links of channel-set diamanté and sprays of single stones. The setting is rhodium-plated white metal. An adjustable bar link chain with a spring-ring clasp completes the piece. This type of adjustable clasp – instead of the North American-style J-hook – was used by many German jewelry makers in the 1950s. The design and construction of this piece remind me of the work of Schreiber & Hiller, but this necklace is unmarked. Nonetheless, I think it was German-made. Diamanté Vintage Link Necklace by Schreiber & Hiller
1930s Jewelry, Schreiber & Hiller Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesWith this vintage link necklace from the 1930s, the maker used curved links of diamanté in a tank-track pattern as the centerpiece. Its purchase includes four additional links, which are each about one-half-inch long.
