Sterling Floral Link 1940s Bracelet by Felch

    , ,
This 1940s bracelet by Felch features four sterling silver plaques decorated with flowers and leaves. Their textured surfaces are raised from the back (a technique called repoussé). This timeless piece goes with just about everything. According to the Researching Costume Jewelry website, Victor Primavera, who patented this design, was the designer for Felch & Co. when this bracelet was made. This piece has no maker's mark.

Sterling Flower & Leaf 1940s Brooch by Hobé

    , ,
This petite (by Hobé standards) sterling silver flower and leaf 1940s brooch has the same level of detail and quality workmanship as its larger sisters. The intricate buds on either side of the central flower are particularly lovely. This three-dimensional piece has a roll-over safety clasp. Scroll down to see a bracelet by Hobé that also has a floral motif.

Sterling Flower 1940s Coro Earrings & Bracelet Set

    , , ,
These Coro earrings and bracelet feature large sterling silver flowers. The bracelet has a small flower on each connecting link. The earrings have screw backs. You can easily remove the age-appropriate patina, if you wish. This set was designed in 1942 by Massa Raimond for the company’s high-end line. Sterling Flower Bouquet 1940s Brooch by Coro

    , ,
This 1940s Coro flower brooch has five sterling silver stems tied in a bouquet. From Coro-Craft, the company's high-end line, this piece bears hints of the Retro Modern style of that decade – the slightly curved, stylized flowers and the 3 ¾” length. This piece has a roll-over safety clasp. Scroll down to see a Coro bracelet and earrings set by Massa Raimond in the same design.

    Sterling Flower Bouquet Brooch

    , ,
This vintage flower pin in sterling silver has wonderful detail and an unusual design. A cluster of petals defines the flower, which sits atop a pair of veined leaves. The fourth stem ends in a spiral. This lovely piece is very three-dimensional, well-made and somewhat whimsical. Because of its size and motif, I’m guessing it dates to the 1940s. The pin closes with a roll-over safety clasp. I only wish I could find information about the maker (which is definitely not Rafael Canada)!

Sterling Rose Bough & Wildflowers 1940s Brooch by Hobé

    , ,
In my opinion, Hobé made the best sterling silver flowers in the 1940s. On this brooch, the large blossom at the center with surrounding buds illustrate his extraordinary design talent and the company's high-level of craftsmanship. Their pieces were all hand-made at this time. The unusual design of this brooch is similar to one that was patented in 1940. The pin closes with a roll-over safety clasp. Tortoise Shell Bracelet with Bakelite Crescents

    , ,
This tortoise shell bracelet has three staggered rows of Bakelite(?) interlinked crescents. The pattern is a variation of the tank-track motif that was popular in the 1930s. The hook clasp disappears when the piece is closed. This classic Machine Age bracelet, which was part of my personal collection, is fun and versatile! If warm colors are your palette, this jewel is for you.

Turquoise & Sapphire 1950s Earrings by Alice Caviness

    , ,
An unusual textured turquoise glass stone is the centerpiece of these 1950s earrings by Alice Caviness. It is shaped like a thick button and has some sparkle in it. Aurora borealis sapphire glass stones and turquoise glass beads set in gold-tone filigree surround half of the turquoise center. These beads are mounted (wired?) onto a filigree back that holds the ear clip. The earrings face each other, so they beautifully frame the face when worn. This pair showcase this designer's clever mix of colors and materials.

This long (47") Art Deco necklace features round and tubular-shaped turquoise-glass beads in various sizes connected with silver-tone chain. Turquoise Drop French 1950s Earrings

    , ,
These vintage turquoise glass earrings may have been made by Louis Rousselet in the 1950s. They feature a large turquoise art-glass nugget hanging from a matching button-shaped stone designed to adorn the earlobe. The filigree earring backs have the traditional French clips of the era – actually, they and the glass buttons are the same elements as those used by Rousselet. The art glass is stunning, and the color is gorgeous!

Turquoise Glass Bead & Diamanté 1950s Bracelet

    , ,
This vintage glass bead bracelet was made in one of the most popular colors of the 1950s: turquoise. It features molded-glass leaves interspersed with diamanté and woven onto a gold-tone mesh cuff. This bold, three-dimensional piece is not for the faint-hearted! Because it has a hinge but no clasp, this bracelet can accommodate a variety of wrist sizes. This is a rare instance where I have two of the same jewels, and they are shown together in the last photo. However, the bracelets are priced separately, so you may choose to buy only one. Turquoise, Diamanté & Gold Leaf 1950s Brooch by Hattie Carnegie

Tiny turquoise glass beads decorate the flower layer on this graceful and elegant 1950s brooch by Hattie Carnegie. The bottom layer is a furled leaf made from openwork, gold-tone metal. Both layers are pavé-embellished. The detail is superb, especially on the back, as one would expect from this maker. This piece closes with a roll-over safety clasp.

Vermeil Sterling Leaf & Berry 1940s Dress Clip by Nettie Rosenstein

A layer of berries is attached to openwork leaves in this substantial piece by Nettie Rosenstein. Made of gold-plated sterling silver in the 1940s, this dress clip has a hinged, double-prong back. This decorative, high-quality piece looks great on the shoulder or lapel of a dress, jacket, or coat – the fabric just needs to be weightier to support the jewel. No wonder this maker's jewelry is highly-prized!

Yellow Glass Bead & Caramel Disk French Necklace

    , ,
This substantial French Art Deco necklace boasts large yellow-glass beads with swirls. In between the beads are sets of two caramel-colored glass disks, one teal-glass disk, and then another pair of caramel ones. The color combination is unusual, striking, and extremely versatile. This necklace, which closes with a screw-barrel clasp, has been restrung on chain by my expert jeweler. The clasp can be a bit tricky, but it works fine. This piece was part of my personal collection. A beautiful necklace for a woman who looks best in warm colors.
