Close-up view of silver beaded floral design on front

Black & Silver Beaded 1930s Handbag

This 1930s handbag is just gorgeous! It is covered in black beads with a silver bead decoration on the front and back. The top handle is also covered in black beads. Aside from the lovely floral design, what makes this bag extraordinary is the decorative top of the silver metal frame. The fretwork is continued on the clasp, which hangs in the front. The inside has a smooth, shiny fabric lining with a pocket on each side. One holds a two-sided 2 ½” x 1 5/8” mirror with beveled edges. The high-quality of this unusual bag is felt in its weight. I confess that I'm guessing at the date of the purse, but I don't think that matters. What a lovely and distinctive evening accessory!

    Black Suede Handbag with Chrome

This black suede handbag is probably a 1930s European design. Nearly square in shape with a fixed, top handle, this bag has chrome trim around the frame, a faille lining, and what appears to be the original mirror and change purse. Each of these accessories has a separate inside pocket. While the slender shape doesn’t lend itself to today’s daytime requirements, this beautiful bag is a lovely evening accessory.

    Black Velvet Vintage Clutch Purse

This vintage clutch purse in black velvet is shaped like a trapezoid. It has a chrome frame, decorative black Bakelite and chrome clasp, and faille lining with a pocket. At the center of the interior is a fixed change purse made of the same faille with a chrome frame. On the exterior, the front has a decorative rectangular tab, and the back has a hand strap in the same material. What a lovely accessory for evening! Just slide your hand under the strap, and you can dance the night away with the bag safely resting on top.

Colorful Wood Bead Purse by Schonanek

This wood bead purse was made by Schonanek in the former Czechoslovakia. It features beads in various shapes and sizes, with single-color bands set within each other to form the oval shape. In the center is a pattern of three flowers. The same pattern is repeated on the back. A triple row of flat-bottomed round black beads forms top handle. The bag has a zipper closure and a lining of black faille with a pocket on one side. The maker’s label is intact. Just a fun piece!

    Navy Suede Art Deco Handbag

This Art Deco handbag in navy suede has enamel embellishments on the front that may have been the original owner’s initials. Nearly square in shape and slender in design, this piece has a decorative clasp. It features a trio of trapezoid-shaped elements in silver-tone, navy, and gold-tone metal. The light-blue faille lining is very clean. On one side is a pocket. In the center, attached to a metal frame, is a change purse in the same fabric. This beautiful top-handle bag is perfect for day, if you don’t wish to carry much, and elegant for evening.
