Amethyst & Diamanté Earrings from Austria
1930s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage EarringsThese vintage amethyst earrings feature three rows of vertically-set stones. In the middle are two deep-purple baguettes with a round diamanté on top and a faceted, teardrop-shaped diamanté at the bottom. On either side of the middle, the pattern is repeated but with a single baguette. The setting is rhodium-plated metal shaped to hold the stones together, making each pendant one piece. A single, faceted, round diamanté sits at the earlobe. These 1930s Art Deco earrings from Austria are all-original screw-backs and can be modified for pierced ears. The color combination is rich, regal, and easy-to-wear.USD$295.00USD$295.00Amethyst & Sterling Bracelet by Foster & Bro.

1930s Jewelry, Fahrner Jewelry, Vintage BraceletsThis Theodor Fahrner bracelet is spectacular! Each gilded-sterling silver link with corded wire spirals holds a collet-set faux aquamarine. This fabulous Art Deco jewel is an excellent example of the type of filigree this maker is known for. The book cited as a reference indicates that the filigree pieces were made post-1932, but the same source dates the maker’s mark to the 1920s. I don’t think the date matters – this bracelet is exquisite! It has a box clasp and safety catch. 1930s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage BraceletsThis vintage charm bracelet has black-and-white Bakelite cubes that dance on either side of the metal center. The decorated chrome links form a tank-track pattern and close with a spring-ring clasp. To some people, these charms resemble a type of licorice candy (whose name I don’t know). 1930s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesThis 1930s French necklace is a lovely take on black-and-white. What appear as white glass beads are actually clear glass with white swirls. 1930s Jewelry, Schreiber & Hiller Jewelry, Vintage EarringsAt the top of these 1930s earrings is a link with engraved sides that holds seven diamantés. At the bottom is another diamanté-set link flanked by black Bakelite (or Galalith) on three sides. In the middle is a single stone. Each earring has a small chip of Bakelite at the bottom, but that minor flaw in no way detracts from their beauty. A sterling chain connects each drop to a diamanté-centered black bead designed to adorn the earlobe. These all-original screw-back earrings can be modified for pierced ears. It has vertical links of diamanté alternating with black Bakelite. The stones in this piece are relatively large – only four to each flat-top link. 1930s Jewelry, Schreiber & Hiller Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesA beautiful example of Machine Age design that you will love. 1930s Jewelry, Double Clip Brooches, Mazer Bros. JewelryThis double clip brooch by Mazer Brothers features sparkly round and baguette diamanté in a late-Art Deco design. What’s interesting about this piece is that the patent for the brooch mechanism that connects the dress clips was issued to Marcel Boucher in 1939, two years after he started his own company. He filed the patent application when he was working for Mazer Brothers, but the patent wasn’t assigned to them when it was issued. (You can see the utility patent here, below Boucher's name.) I was surprised to find the “MAZER” mark on this piece from the technical perspective but certainly not from an aesthetic point of view. Because this jewel was created with the Boucher mechanism, I think it was made while he still worked for the firm. Wear this lovely piece as a brooch or as separate dress clips. The photos show a third option: one clip worn as a pendant on a black rubber cord; you may prefer to use a white gold or silver chain. A 17-inch, 2mm black rubber cord with a stainless steel twist lock (which is shown in the photo) is included with this purchase. The setting is rhodium-plated base metal; the brooch has a roll-over safety clasp. What's curious about this piece is its origin: although it is marked "PRO. The clips can be worn together as a brooch. Because the design is symmetrical, I like to wear this type of clip as a pendant on a chain or cord. 1930s Jewelry, Unknown (Maker's Mark is Unknown), Vintage BraceletsThis German flexible bracelet features curved, rhodium-plated links with channel-set diamanté. Its design and construction remind me of other pieces made in Germany in the 1930s and 1950. A distinctive element of this one is the use of a small disk between each link. This bracelet is wider and longer than most I’ve seen from these decades. Although this piece has a maker’s mark, I cannot identify the company. 1930s Jewelry, Unknown (Maker's Mark is Unknown), Vintage NecklacesThis snake chain necklace from Germany has a curved centerpiece with a Machine Age-look. The white-metal links with channel-set stones are separated by trios of flat-metal links. All are connected with flat disks at the top and bottom (probably to cover a connecting chain). At each end is a triangle-shaped element formed by two long and one short link with channel-set stones. This piece closes with a spring-ring clasp. Although I had always associated snake chains with the 1940s, I just learned that they were first introduced in 1850. This necklace has a maker’s mark, but I have been unable to identify the company. Although this necklace was made for a slim neck (the length is 14 1/2"), you could add a chain extender if needed. The absence of an adjustable closure makes me think this piece was made before the 1950s. Gemstone Fruit Salad & Diamanté Dress Clips
1930s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage Dress ClipsThis pair of vintage dress pins has ruby, sapphire, and emerald acorn-shaped glass stones surrounded by diamanté. Costume jewelry makers adopted this practice of molding colored glass in the shapes of leaves or fruits to imitate Indian-carved gemstones used in fine jewelry. Firms such as Cartier and Van Cleef & Arpels popularized these fruit salads or tutti frutti in Art Deco pieces. The trio of rubies, sapphires, and emeralds was a favorite combination. The setting of these classic 1930s dress clips is rhodium-plated base metal. Notice the photo showing one clip worn as a pendant on a sterling silver chain (which is not included), to illustrate the versatility of this type of jewel. You probably have a silver or white-gold necklace that would work as well. The utility patent for the dress clip mechanism is here, shown below the name of Anthony E. Trifari made their first fruit salad pieces in the late-1930s, typically using acorn-shaped stones. This jewel has the popular trio of colors but in a different shape with an added gem: the company called cabochons with a diamanté center shoe-buttons. 1920s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage Brooches & PinsThis pinwheel brooch has ruby-glass beads wired in a spiral and adorned with channels of diamantés. A large ruby-glass bead sits on top. Frank Hess designed a nearly identical dress clip for Miriam Haskell circa 1940, but his had diamantés only on the front. This brooch has them on both sides. The trombone clasp tells me this piece was made in Europe. The beads and filigree back make me think it's from France. Sapphire, Diamanté & Sterling Filigree Bracelet by Granbery
1920s Jewelry, Granbery Jewelry, Vintage BraceletsThis sterling silver filigree bracelet by Granbery is a fine example of a style that was very popular in the 1920s. With its sapphire-glass baguettes and diamanté accents, this piece has the same construction and appearance as its fine jewelry counterpart. The excellent articulation and clasp with safety catch are the hallmarks of high-quality. Although one of the baguettes has a small surface chip, my expert jeweler has confirmed that the stone is firmly set. The bracelet looks perfect when worn.
