Black & Silver Beaded 1930s Handbag
Vintage PursesThis 1930s handbag is just gorgeous! It is covered in black beads with a silver bead decoration on the front and back. The top handle is also covered in black beads. Aside from the lovely floral design, what makes this bag extraordinary is the decorative top of the silver metal frame. The fretwork is continued on the clasp, which hangs in the front. The inside has a smooth, shiny fabric lining with a pocket on each side. One holds a two-sided 2 ½” x 1 5/8” mirror with beveled edges. The high-quality of this unusual bag is felt in its weight. I confess that I'm guessing at the date of the purse, but I don't think that matters. What a lovely and distinctive evening accessory!USD$275.00USD$275.00Black Bakelite & Diamanté Art Deco Brooch
1930s Jewelry, Unsigned Jewelry, Vintage Brooches & PinsThis Art Deco Bakelite brooch is not for the faint-hearted! From the 1930s, this large black jewel has ornate hand-carving accented with faceted, square-cut and round diamantés. The stones, which were expertly replaced by the previous owner, are a sparkly contrast to the dark color. At 3 ¾” long, this brooch is a real statement piece. It closes with a roll-over safety clasp.USD$245.00USD$245.00Black Bakelite & Diamanté Flexible Bracelet by Schreiber & Hiller
1930s Jewelry, Schreiber & Hiller Jewelry, Vintage BraceletsVintage Bakelite jewelry as beautiful as this German flexible bracelet from the 1930s is hard to find. It has vertical links of diamanté alternating with black Bakelite. The stones in this piece are relatively large – only four to each flat-top link. This Art Deco bracelet closes with a concealed clasp. Because one of the markings is "Patented" (an English word stamped by a German maker), I think this bracelet was intended for export. 1930s Jewelry, Schreiber & Hiller Jewelry, Vintage NecklacesA beautiful example of Machine Age design that you will love. This vintage black Bakelite necklace features six curved links set with diamantés that alternate with Bakelite (or Galalith) links with pointed tops. Because the jeweled links are curved, the centerpiece follows the curve of your neck instead of laying out in a straight line. A scroll chain with a spring-ring clasp completes this elegant and easy-to-wear necklace that I always enjoyed. You can see it on my favorite model in this blog post. Nearly square in shape with a fixed, top handle, this bag has chrome trim around the frame, a faille lining, and what appears to be the original mirror and change purse.
