This vintage pearl brooch was made in France in the 1950s. It has faux pearls and emerald-glass beads in various shapes and sizes, all hand-wired onto a gilt-metal filigree back with a trombone clasp. This unusual three-dimensional creation reminds me of the work of Louis Rousselet. Although I haven't seen documentation showing any brooches by this company, the high quality of the pearls and beads suggest that these parts (if not the design and production) came from the Rousselet workshops. This spectacular piece is right for day or evening wear. Although the back of one pearl is peeling, this tiny blemish doesn't diminish the beauty of this jewel.
