  • Vintage lapel pin w/faux emeralds & diamantés in sterling
Close-up view of emerald glass baguettes
    USD$295.00

Emerald, Diamanté & Sterling Dress Clip

    , ,
This vintage lapel pin is beautiful in design and construction, and wearable in many ways. It has faceted emerald-cut and round emerald-glass stones, in sharp contrast to the diamantés and rhodium-plated sterling silver setting. This color combination is rich and versatile. You can wear this jewel on the shoulder or lapel of a jacket, on the shoulder of a dress or sweater, or on a hat or a scarf. The hinged, double-prong fastener works best on weighty fabrics. Although this piece is marked, I cannot identify the maker. The design and use of sterling make me think it’s from the mid-1940s. But I don’t think these details matter – this clip is stunning!

  • Pennino Brothers brooch
Gold disk earrings and brooch w/pavé by Pennino Bros.
    USD$295.00

Gold Disk & Diamanté Brooch & Earrings Set by Pennino Bros.

    , , , ,
These gold disk earrings and brooch were made by Pennino Bros. in the 1950s. Pavé disks intersect and overlay the scored disks of gold-tone metal, which remind me of open fans. The layered design and construction of this set are characteristic of exceptional makers like this one. The brooch closes with a roll-over safety clasp. Note that about 1/4″ of the pavé disk on each ear clip will sit below your earlobe. Wear these lovely earrings and brooch together or separately, to create different looks. Your own real or faux diamond studs or hoop earrings would work well with this brooch. Wear the ear clips as shoe embellishments.

  • Pearl and gemstone earrings by Louis Rousselet
    Louis Rousselet 1950s earrings
    USD$395.00

Pearl, Gemstone Bead & Rondelle Earrings

    , ,
Pearl and gemstone earrings by Louis Rousselet are a welcome and versatile addition to any jewelry wardrobe. These 1950s French ear clips feature faux pearls in various sizes, with accents of ruby, sapphire, emerald and amethyst hand-wound-glass leaves along with rondelles. Though unsigned, these earrings match a signed necklace and earrings set that I have moved from my personal collection to offer for sale. The type of ear clip used is another clue to the creator, who usually signed his pieces with only paper hang tags. Rousselet was the premier faux pearl and bead maker in the first half of the 20th century. These earrings are a beautiful example of his work. Although the coating on some pearls appears to have bubbles, I think they are intended. Scroll down to see the magnificent necklace and earrings set in the same design.

    USD$1,995.00

Pearl, Gemstone Bead & Rondelle Necklace & Earrings by Louis Rousselet

    , , ,
This exceptional vintage pearl necklace by the incomparable Louis Rousselet features four strands of glass pearls in varied shapes and sizes. They are accented with hand-wound-glass beads in gemstone colors paired with rondelles. (In case you aren't familiar with his work, you need to know that he was regarded as the premier faux pearl maker in the first half of the 20th century.) The necklace closes with a box clasp adorned with pearls and colored beads, and signed with his initials in script. The matching ear clips are a bonus. Finding a Rousselet-signed piece is incredibly rare (most had only signed paper hang tags), which makes this set all the more extraordinary! Scroll down to see another pair of ear clips in the same style, sold separately. You can see this exquisite necklace worn casually by my favorite model in this blog post.

Ruby & Aurora Borealis Brooch by Elsa Schiaparelli

    , ,
This Aurora Borealis rhinestone brooch features a trio of layered flowers. Clusters of ruby-glass beads form the centers that sit atop the rhinestone petals. In person, this piece looks like a display of fireworks – the iridescence of the navettes is hard to capture in photos. Ruby 1920s Pendant Necklace with Chicklets

    , ,
This delicate 1920s pendant necklace is another variation of the chicklet-style so popular in the Art Deco era. This piece has a beautifully-faceted, rectangular ruby-glass stone suspended from a smaller, oblong-shaped stone along with three chicklets on each side of the chain closest to the center drop. The metal is silver-tone and unmarked. This necklace closes with a spring-ring clasp. I don’t usually like pendants, but this one is special! It’s perfect for a v-neckline.
