    Amethyst Chicklet-Style Art Deco Necklace

    , , ,
This 1920s-1930s Art Deco necklace of square-cut faceted amethyst glass stones set in silver-tone frames with a delicate chain is probably sterling, but it is unmarked. It closes with a filigree fish-hook clasp. Please note that the color saturation of the crystals is even ― any differences in the photos are due to lighting. This necklace looks lovely with several of my Art Deco amethyst earrings and bracelets – scroll down to take a look.

Aquamarine & Sterling Flower 1920s Danish Brooch by Bjerregaard

    , ,
This simple yet elegant sterling silver brooch in the shape of a flower with an aquamarine glass stone center has the smooth finish often associated with Scandinavian pieces. According to the website Online Encyclopedia of Silver Marks, Hallmarks, and Makers' Marks, this brooch was made by Hans Saugmann Bjerregaard, a silversmith in Kjellerup (central Denmark) from 1921-1937. Although it was made in the Art Deco era, I think this brooch has more of an Arts & Crafts style. It is lovely!

Aquamarine & Sterling Leaf 1940s Earrings by Pennino

    , ,
Curled sterling silver leaves are adorned with aquamarine rhinestones in this lively Pennino creation from the 1940s. The sterling appears warm, as if it might have once been gold-washed. The stones and leaves in these earrings resemble elements in the maker's Sunburst brooches. These earrings are clip-backs and very versatile.

Marquise-shaped diamanté flowers sit atop the layers of aquamarine glass beads that form this oval 1940s brooch by Frank Hess for Miriam Haskell. The beads are wired onto a pierced plastic back with a simple C-clasp closure. This World War II-era piece is a winner! Blue & Cream Carved Galalith Art Deco Necklace

    , ,
Plastic beads that were molded to simulate carving were very popular in the Art Deco era. What sets this 1930s necklace apart is the colors -- dark blue on cream. This combination and the design are lovely, and the different shapes of the beads add interest. Even the screw-in clasp forms a bead. I'm not sure what type of early plastic this piece is (possibly Galalith, the French equivalent of Bakelite) – it's light, wonderful and fun to wear in any case.

Blue Art Glass & Diamanté Art Deco Drop Earrings

    , ,
These vintage drop earrings feature blue art glass stones with faint striations and filigree caps falling from links of rectangular and round diamanté set in white metal. The original screw-backs were converted to sterling silver lever-backs for pierced ears by my expert jeweler. These unusual Art Deco earrings are a lovely shade of blue. Although the diamanté are ageing, the blue stones -- which are the star attraction -- are perfect. I bought these earrings for my personal collection, but I'm reluctantly offering them for sale.

Citrine & Crystal Tiered Art Deco Necklace

    , , ,
The design and construction of this citrine glass and crystal tiered Art Deco necklace, a variation on the chicklet style, is first class. Deep yellow/golden square-cut glass stones alternate with oblong crystals to form the necklace and tiered center piece. Round dangling citrine glass stones add the movement that was so essential in this era. All of the stones are faceted and mounted in decorated, silver-tone metal. This divine necklace, which I initially purchased for myself, closes with a spring-ring clasp. I have a number of Art Deco earrings and bracelets to wear with this necklace – scroll down to see them.

Coral, Pearl & Gold 1950s Brooch & Earrings Set by Hattie Carnegie

    , ,
This 1950s coral, pearl and gold brooch and earrings set by Hattie Carnegie executes one of her common themes — florals — to perfection.  The enameled leaves look as though they're blowing in the breeze. The detail is superb — even the backs of the brooch and earrings show the leaves' veins. A faux pearl adds a nice accent to each piece. The brooch has a roll-over safety clasp; the earrings are clip-backs.

Crystal Chicklet Dangling Art Deco Earrings

    , ,
Three faceted square-cut crystal chicklets dangle in these charming 1920s Art Deco earrings. The all-original screw-backs (which can be modified for pierced ears) each have a diamond-shaped crystal chicklet at the earlobe. The mountings and findings may be sterling silver, but only the screw-backs are marked. Because the dangling chicklets are separated by rings, these earrings have lots of movement and light reflection. These earrings look great with many Art Deco pieces in my boutique – scroll down to see a selection.
