  • Vintage charm bracelet with black & white cubes
Art Deco tank-track pattern bracelet with charms
    USD$495.00

Black & White Bakelite Vintage Charm Bracelet

    , ,
This vintage charm bracelet has black-and-white Bakelite cubes that dance on either side of the metal center. The decorated chrome links form a tank-track pattern and close with a spring-ring clasp. To some people, these charms resemble a type of licorice candy (whose name I don’t know). To me, this piece says 1930s Europe. It’s definitely fun to wear!

Brown Marbled Bakelite Bangle Bracelet with 6 Dots

    , ,
This Bakelite bangle bracelet combines shades of brown in marble-like swirls. The outside is inlaid with six yellow dots.  This piece, which is from my personal collection, slips over the hand, as the bracelet doesn’t open. It is the perfect adornment for a woman who looks best in warm hues. Add a touch of whimsy to any outfit with this richly-colored piece.

  • Dangling wood bead brooch by Miriam Haskell
Miriam Haskell brooch with wooden coffee-bean-shaped beads
    USD$225.00

Brown Wooden Bead Brooch by Miriam Haskell

    , ,
This wood bead brooch is typical of the type of whimsical pieces designed by Frank Hess for Miriam Haskell during World War II. At the top, the coffee-bean-shaped beads form flower petals that surround small round beads with gilt-metal caps. They are all hand-sewn onto a pierced, flat metal foundation. From there, a riot of beads dangle from gilt-metal links attached to three braided-silk cords. This brooch, which closes with a roll-over safety clasp, is in remarkable condition and fun to wear!

Colored Bead Dangling Brooch by Miriam Haskell

    , ,
This dangling bead pin was designed by Frank Hess for Miriam Haskell in the 1930s. A textured Russian-gold wreath embellished with blue, green, red and yellow glass beads forms the top of this whimsical jewel. Note that the beads were hand-sewn onto the pierced metal foundation. Dangling tubes and beads in the same colors finish the piece. It closes with a simple C-clasp. Lots of movement here. Primary colors never looked so good!

This vintage coral bead necklace is dainty and elegant. It has a delicate silver-tone paper-clip chain that suspends coral-glass beads in decorative oval settings. This Art Deco jewel closes with a spring-ring clasp. This piece looks like something Downton Abbey’s Edith Crawley might wear! A lovely adornment for a round or v-neckline.

  • Green bead necklace w/chrome accents
Green bead & chrome Machine Age necklace
    USD$245.00

    Green Bead & Chrome Necklace

    , ,
This green bead necklace from the 1930s is probably European in origin. A large, faceted glass bead capped with textured metal shaped like flower petals is the centerpiece. Textured chrome balls along with green-glass beads (two flower-shaped with caps, two round ones without) continue up the textured chain to the spring-ring clasp. This playful jewel has a Machine Age-feel. An unusual and delightful piece for a woman who likes to wear warm colors in any season. Scroll down to see a coordinating bracelet.

Jade Bead Art Deco Chandelier Earrings

    , ,
These Art Deco chandelier earrings feature a circle of pale jade glass beads suspended from a triangle of silver-tone chain dotted with additional beads. A single bead pendant hangs within each circle, and a matching larger disk is set where it will adorn the earlobe. Lavishly-long (3-inch), this pair is possibly Czech in origin. These all-original screw-back earrings can be modified for pierced ears.

    Lapis Panel 1930s Pendant Earrings

    , ,
These lapis blue earrings are formed from molded-glass panels that look like carved gemstones. The flower motif in the blue-glass pendants is present in the silver-tone metal components that connect the pendant to the earring top. These all-original, unusual earrings have screw-backs, but they can be modified for pierced ears. Because these Art Deco earrings are 2″ long and bold (the glass panels are 3/4-inch squares), I would wear these drops with only an Art Deco bracelet – scroll down to see a selection. This versatile color is perfect for those who like to wear cool hues.

  • Milk glass earrings with rondelles
Miriam Haskell earrings with milk glass beads & disks
    USD$345.00

Milk Glass Bead, Diamanté & Gold Earrings by Miriam Haskell

    , , ,
These milk glass earrings with beads and disks, rondelles, and gold-tone findings have a real Machine Age-look and associated movement. However, the use of French ear clips dates them to the late-1940s, and the white beads may take them into the 1950s, when white jewelry was extremely popular. I still consider this pair to be Art Deco in style, and I’ve seen the same motif used by this designer (Frank Hess) on earlier Miriam Haskell pieces. Whenever they were made, these ear clips are lots of fun! I saw them in an entirely new, bright, and glamorous light when they were chosen to walk the runway at Toronto Fashion Week for Spring 2019. See them on the model who looked stunning in a bridal jumpsuit with skirt. You don't have to be a bride to add glamour to an ensemble with these fabulous earrings!

  • Vintage seashell necklace w/milk-glass beads

    USD$245.00

Milk-Glass Bead & Seashell Long Necklace by Miriam Haskell

    ,
This vintage seashell necklace with milk-glass beads is an exceptionally long (46”) strand by Miriam Haskell. It was made later than my usual 1920-1960 scope, but this piece is so whimsical that I bought it anyway. This jewel can be worn long, doubled or even tripled! It closes with a slide clasp, which is the clue to the date of manufacture. This necklace works well with other milk-glass jewelry, including earrings by the same maker. Scroll down to see them.

  • Art glass earrings in pastels, from France
Pale pink, green & blue glass bead earrings
    USD$295.00

Pastel Art Glass Earrings from France

    , ,
These art glass earrings feature pale pink, green and blue beads that dangle on chains suspended from a pink glass button. The pastel-colored beads in different shapes and sizes have white striations. These 1950s ear clips are lovely and versatile, and have lots of movement. Though unsigned, they resemble pieces made by Louis Rousselet. The clues are the glass button at the earlobe and the beauty and uniqueness of the beads. I am not certain, however, because of the style of the ear clip. Nonetheless, these jewels are fun!

    , , ,
This vintage glass bead necklace has clusters of small pale-pink beads wound together with wire and linked with large clear-glass rings. This Art Deco jewel from my personal collection looks like a garland when worn. The materials, construction, and barrel clasp make me think this necklace was made in Europe. A unique and classy piece that creates a lovely and memorable topping to a round-neck garment, any time of year.

    Art Deco red chandelier earrings
    USD$295.00

    Red Bead Chandelier Earrings

    , ,
These red bead earrings are deliciously long (3 1/4") and fun to wear. Three chains dotted with bright red glass form these Art Deco chandeliers. The glass stone set at the earlobe and all but the bottom row of beads are faceted; the bottom ones are round balls. These all-original earrings have screw-backs which can be modified for pierced ears. Some of the beads have minor flaws, but none is visible when this pair is worn. Lots of movement here! Make your fashion statement with this unusual pair.

  • Miriam Haskell brooch (clip) with ruby glass beads & rondelles
Close-up view of ruby bead brooch
    USD$595.00

Ruby Bead & Rondelle Miriam Haskell Brooch/Clip

    , ,
This Miriam Haskell brooch, which is also a dress clip, is an extremely versatile piece. It has deep-red glass beads separated by rondelles and small flat beads in silver metal findings. A World War II-style dress clip is attached to the pierced plastic back. Other Frank Hess creations used this Machine Age-design and construction, which allow the elements to move. (Scroll down to see a similar pair of earrings.) I bought this piece from Haskell expert Cathy Gordon, who indicated that the pin stem was probably added to the dress clip at a later date. In addition to wearing this jewel as a clip or brooch, you can wear it as a pendant on a black cord (shown in the last photo) or on a silver or white-gold chain. The 17" black cord shown is included with this purchase.

  • Faux sapphire necklace with square & step-pattern stones
    Blue chicklet necklace
    USD$345.00

Sapphire Chicklet & Enamel 1920s Necklace

    , ,
This faux sapphire necklace has faceted, square-cut, blue-glass chicklets alternating with glass stones molded in a step pattern. The result is an Art Deco classic. The two blue-enamel links on each end make me think this piece is European in origin. This necklace closes with a spring-ring clasp. The original silver-tone finish is worn in places, so much of the brass is showing. Because the focus is the gorgeous blue stones, this slight blemish doesn't detract in any way from the beauty of this piece. This elegant necklace is versatile and timeless, and from my personal collection. Scroll down to see a lovely sapphire Art Deco bracelet to wear with this jewel.

  • Sterling silver choker, 1940s, by Walter Lampl
Walter Lampl sterling silver flexible choker
    USD$345.00

Sterling Silver Choker by Walter Lampl

    , ,
This sterling silver choker by Walter Lampl was the height of style in the mid- to late-1940s. The simplicity of this piece makes it wearable with almost anything. This well-constructed necklace closes with a concealed clasp. This choker was made for a slim neck, even though the construction allows for a bit of stretch. Please note the length (14 1/2"), and measure your neck before making this purchase. This jewel was advertised in the May 1947 issue of The Jewelers' Circular - Keystone (a trade publication). I wrote a blog post about two stars who wore this style of necklace in 1940s films – read it here. Cate Blanchett wore a gold version in the 2015 movie Carol. After seeing the 2019 Oscars, I was inspired by Amy Adams' red-carpet look to add a Marcel Boucher brooch to this necklace, as shown in the last photo. Turquoise Bead Bracelet with Diamantés

    , ,
This turquoise bead bracelet is a familiar style made by Miriam Haskell. The color is more green than other turquoise pieces by this company. A classy and classic piece that’s perfect for those who like to wear warm colors. Please note the bracelet length (6 1/2") and check your wrist size before purchasing this piece. Scroll down to see the perfect Haskell brooch to wear with this jewel.

These turquoise bead earrings are fashioned from molded-glass leaves and diamantés hand-woven onto a brass-colored filigree disk. This bold hue was the height of fashion in the 1950s. • Vintage glass bead bracelet in turquoise & diamante
    Turquoise glass bead bracelet w/diamante
    USD$195.00

Turquoise Glass Bead & Diamanté 1950s Bracelet

    , ,
This vintage glass bead bracelet was made in one of the most popular colors of the 1950s: turquoise. It features molded-glass leaves interspersed with diamanté and woven onto a gold-tone mesh cuff. This bold, three-dimensional piece is not for the faint-hearted! Because it has a hinge but no clasp, this bracelet can accommodate a variety of wrist sizes. This is a rare instance where I have two of the same jewels, and they are shown together in the last photo. However, the bracelets are priced separately, so you may choose to buy only one.
