Camphor Glass & Chrysoprase Bead Sautoir
27" length to top of Y; 3 1/2" long drop including fringe
The slender, barrel-shaped beads in this camphor glass necklace are flanked by small, round chrysoprase beads. Each trio is connected with tubular white-metal links that form a Y. At the bottom is an inverted V-shaped white-metal element that is embellished with marcasites and that holds five rows of fringe. This lovely 1920s sautoir is lightweight. It closes with a box clasp and safety catch. This wonderful Art Deco jewel – which I believe originated in Europe – is from my personal collection. Vintage Earrings, 1920s Jewelry, Wachenheimer Bros. JewelryThese chrysoprase and sterling drop earrings by Wachenheimer Bros. have square and oblong stones. By the end of the 1920s, the company was marketing Wachenheimer Real Stone Jewelry with their company name instead of the Diamonbar trademark. The original screw-backs were converted to sterling silver lever-backs for pierced ears by my expert jeweler.
