Gemstone Flower & Vermeil Sterling Bow 1940s Brooch by Coro

Additional information

3" x 2 3/4"

c.1943 (based on design patent and use of sterling, per Brunialti)

"Sterling" and "Coro Craft" (in script) with Pegasus on rectangular cartouche

Design patent D134,984 issued to Adolph Katz in 1943

A gold-plated, sterling silver tied ribbon forms the foundation of this 1940s Retro Modern brooch. On top of the bow are three stems  of flowers with petals of faceted ruby, emerald, and citrine glass navettes dotted with diamanté. The largest flower has a faceted amethyst-glass center. A leaf at the top completes the bouquet. This colorful, complex piece was designed by Adolph Katz for Coro’s high-end line. The pin closes with a roll-over safety clasp. The variety of stones makes this brooch extremely versatile. Note that bright areas on the piece are only camera reflections.
