Sapphire & Pearl Garland 1950s Brooch by Alice Caviness
1 7/8" x 2 1/2"; depth: 3/4"
"ALICE CAVINESS" in block letters on oval cartouche
Garlands of sapphire-blue-glass stones and faux pearls set in gold plating rise from a base formed by a large faceted sapphire-glass stone in this 1950s brooch by Alice Caviness. The garland-like outer rim appears to dance around the focal point center stone. The look of this three-dimensional piece is both elegant and versatile. I think this brooch ranks right up there with works by Hattie Carnegie, one of this maker’s contemporaries.
