This tortoise shell link necklace features large plastic beads, gold-colored end caps, and oblong open links in a 1960s disco-inspired design. This piece closes with a box clasp of Russian-gold filigree, topped with a tortoise-shell-colored bead surrounded by tiny gold-tone balls. In some ways, this necklace challenges my idea of Haskell elegance, but then again many whimsical designs bear her name. I have to admit that I bought this piece, which was made more recently than the usual 1920-1960 scope of this collection, because I wanted to see the French-made links up-close and in-person. I wasn’t disappointed. This necklace is no longer available.
